Tell us something about you that fans should know:
I like consider myself versatile. I have my hands on a lot of different music- which was something my first drum teacher really nailed into me. At 6 I was practicing to Rush, Michael Jackson, Iron Maiden, Justin Timberlake… just as many styles and genres as I could bare. Now at 24, I’m playing drums in R&B bands, a Brazilian samba group, and an Indie/Folk band. But my main focus is on attempting to introduce myself to the world through a collaborative, Alternative Rap effort titled ‘Soren.’ which I’m producing, performing, & engineering.
Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?
I’m originally from Chesapeake, Virginia. Growing up, the music scene was seemingly nonexistent and I spent most of time playing drums in my garage and using a tape deck to record random little song ideas. It wasn’t until probably 7th or 8th grade that I found a few other people who were into music and that fed an idea that I was unique among my peers, which in turn drove me to dig deeper into my creative potential. Later in life I learned that there’s actually a myriad of insanely talented and diverse artists from my area in VA like Pharrell, Missy Elliot, D’angelo, Benny Blanco, etc. After I discovered that it lit a creative spark in me that has pushed me to make as much music as possible.
